Neurons allow users to “time-lock” their ICP utility tokens in order to be rewarded with voting power, which can be used to vote on proposals submitted to the system that can be automatically executed. Neurons can be made to follow each other in various ways such that they vote automatically, representing a form of liquid democracy.
Users can also dissolve their neurons to release the tokens inside the neuron and convert them into cycles to power computation.
